Gastech 2024 Launch Party

With the United States on the cusp of becoming the largest net exporter of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), the world’s largest meeting place for natural gas, LNG, hydrogen, low-carbon solutions, and climate technologies kicked of its return to the Energy Capital of the World at the Post Oak Hotel Thursday night.

For more than 50 years, Gastech has played a pivotal role in the energy industry, bringing together world energy leaders, thought leaders, and innovators for an unparalleled four-day industry experience. The conference, slated for September 17 – 20, 2024 at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center, is expected to draw upwards of 40,000 industry executives, government ministers, and visitors from around the world.

Thursday’s event in Uptown Houston drew more than 150 people including Harris County Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis, Andy Icken the City of Houston’s Chief Development Officer, the Consul General of Ukraine, and consul staff from the nations of Cypress, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, and others.

“We are so glad to have Gastech coming back to the Energy Capital of the World,” Commissioner Rodney Ellis said. “Houston has both the opportunity and the responsibility to lead the energy transition to a more efficient, energy-abundant, low-carbon future.” 2019 was the first time in more than 20 years Houston hosted the conference. Icken, with the city of Houston, noted that that many of the efforts “related to resiliency and lower carbon emissions were the kinds of things we saw emerging from Gastech” five years ago.

A panel discussion entitled “US LNG and its Critical Role in Supporting Global Energy Security” featuring industry veterans Corey Ayers, President of LNG Market Development at Mexico Pacific, Matt Chandler, President, LNG Market Development at ExxonMobil, and Najla Jamoussi, Director, Market Fundamentals – Global LNG at Cheniere as panelists. The Wall Street Journal’s Houston-based Energy Reporter, Benoit Moreene moderated the discussion.
