Historic Visit of Saif Islam Qaddafi to Houston

Members of the President's Circle and Advisory Board of the Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce joined civic leaders of Texas in welcoming Saif Islam Qaddafi in a Luncheon Roundtable sponsored by ExxonMobil. This visit comes after decades of tense relations between the US and Libya, recently resolved after the settlement of the Lockerbie Case. The compensation agreement was the last hurdle to a full normalization of ties with Washington.

Dinner Roundtable Featuring US Ambassador to Libya

The Senate confirmed the nomination of career diplomat Gene Cretz as the first US ambassador to Libya in 36 years. The Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce and the US Commercial Service welcomed newly appointed Ambassador Cretz to Houston, Monday, December 8th. The Chamber organized an executive roundtable dinner attended by senior executives of member companies with interests in Libya. Steve Guidry, President of Marathon Libya and Jim Heavner, Senior Vice President, Fluor Corporation co hosted the exclusive dinner of 30 guests and facilitated the informative discussion.
